The images collected in this book are the photographs Eliot Porter (1901-1990) took within the immense American landscape, capturing a sense of wild nature in all its wonder and fragility with his camera. Between the 1940s and the mid-1970s, he experimented with the use of colour, at a time when most professional photographers were still using only black and white. With his images, which document the beauty and grandeur of nature, he participated in the birth of the environmental movement.

The book has been favourably reviewed on the web thanks also to the quality of the images reproduced, for the purity and delicacy of the tones and colour.
